In this course, we will take a look at the different ‘aspects’ within phase 2 phonics and how we can ensure that the children in our care are building this crucial foundation, on which they will continue to build for the rest of their lives to become confident readers.

In this course, you will learn:

• Why we don’t teach phonics in alphabetical order
• How we introduce new sounds
• What the common mistakes are and how to avoid them
• How to support blending
• How to be aware of your accents when teaching phonics
