What is Nature Connection and what does it mean in schools?

This workshop explores why a relationship with nature enhances the long-term mental health of pupils and teachers. Key research about the importance of nature connectedness will be considered and Alex will share low-cost, easy-to-implement activities for you to use in your school outdoor environment.

About Alex Williams

Alex has over 20 years of experience connecting people with their environments and is a skilled community development, training, and facilitation professional. Alex is a graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science and recently an MSc in Behavioural Science, with a research dissertation focusing on teachers’ perceptions of nature connectedness. Alex has worked in a wide range of urban and rural contexts both in the UK and overseas. Alex has worked with families, young people, children, schools, councils, housing associations, and charities. Alex has spent the last ten years establishing forest schools and delivering accredited training in Forest School and outdoor learning. Alex is an LTL Accredited Professional in Outdoor Learning and Play,  Therapeutic Forest Approved Practitioner and an Institute of Outdoor Learning Recognised Professional.
