Achievements

I have shown the incredible impact that dialogic teaching can make to impactful, memorable learning on an individual and whole school basis. I have designed and led CPD and whole school development in this and many other areas as a senior leader, sharing my passion and enthusing professionals, children and their families about the power of effective communication as a skill in itself but also as an amazing tool for learning. I have taught initial teacher education students in this way, created highly supportive and enthusiastic parent groups and empowered both children and parents alike to become lifelong learners.

About

I am so excited to introduce myself as a friendly, learning partner for educators and parents.
My name is Caroline Hudson and I am the proud owner of The Kitchen Table Teacher – a very small, independent company that aims to empower children and their families to feel confident and enthusiastic about their futures, their relationships and their place in the world. I work in two key ways.
1. With parents. I run small, friendly groups to learn about the English and Maths their children are covering at school.
1.With educators. I am passionate about the power of dialogic teaching as a tool for change. My aim is to demystify the concept of oracy and to give educators the confidence to get started with teaching in the oracy way. I consider this method (more of a twist on current practice and less of a bolt-on extra) absolutely vital for all, which is why I have chosen to create an accessible piece of “Start-up” learning for all educators.
2. With parents. I run small, friendly groups to learn about the English and Maths their children are covering at school. (These often develop into other areas of learning as time goes on)
I have a 30 year background in primary school teaching and leadership and three children of my own. I currently split my time between teaching student teachers at Leeds Beckett University and working with educators. My work with parents is in various contextsIt happens in local schools, community hubs and also privately.
