Reception to Year 1 Transition: How should we do it?

Transition can be distressing

When it’s time for children to move on from their early years reception classroom and to enter the world of Key Stage 1, the national curriculum and less free-flow, play-based learning… that can be a lot to process.

How we manage the transition from Reception to Year 1 is crucial for the wellbeing of the children in our care. This is a big step and we need to be there to help them step up onto it!

In this video I talk about the things you can do – in both year groups – to make the transition process as easy as possible. Some children may require more support, so I’ve included some handy tips for that.
